The Shift (https://www.theshift.be/) is the Belgian sustainability community. Our network of diverse organisations has one common goal: to actively work together towards a more sustainable economy and society. The Shift connects over 580 companies, NGOs, public and academic actors in Belgium and is the national point of contact for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the B Corp Movement.

Our mission is to facilitate and accelerate the sustainability agenda, driven by three forces:

CONNECT - we organize networking opportunities for our members around burning sustainability challenges;

COMMIT - we help our members formulate their long-term sustainability goals;

CHANGE - we set up innovative change projects for the most complex challenges with members who want to go the extra mile.

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals act as guiding principles, the young generations help challenge the status quo.

To further grow our impact with our members, we’re actively looking for an experienced Community Manager to foster and mobilise a collaborative and engaged community of credible captains of society.  

 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on person to join our Voice team as a Community Manager.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Community management
  • You get to set up and launch a dynamic community platform, where you play a key role in its activitation;
  • You bring in the right tools to facilitate meaningful connections among members;
  • You drive member interactions and empower the team with tools to enhance engagement;
  • You proactively identify and address challenges members are facing through our Change programme;
  • You challenge and motivate members to actively take part in our Change programme.
  1. Member management
  • You will define The Shift’s membership strategy in close collaboration with the director;
  • You oversee and manage the forecasting of membership fees in collaboration with the Finance Manager;
  • You identify potential member organisations of The Shift and approach them to present membership benefits;
  • You are the primary point of contact for new members and membership related questions;
  • You organise infosessions for potential new members three times a year;
  • You will work with a CRM system to track member engagements and ensure team monitoring and data updates.
  1. Communication support
  • You develop and maintain activity pages, ensuring content aligns with The Shift’s brand  book and tone of voice;
  • You assist the Change team in transforming complex topics into attractive web content and act as the go-to-person for website related questions;
  • You craft and manage the bimonthly newsletter, ensuring relevant and compelling copy;
  • You curate targeted posts for LinkedIn (copy, visuals, videos) and know how to captivate and engage your audience.

 

PROFILE:

  • You have at least 3 years of experience in community management;
  • You are familiar to work with digital community and/or marketing tools;
  • You are a digital native and passionate about communication and online media;
  • You are comfortable to work in a B2B environment;
  • You have excellent communication skills, both verbally and written;
  • You have a good knowledge of French and Dutch in speaking and writing;
  • You are used to work with Mailchimp and Canva (InDesign is a plus);
  • You enjoy working in a small but dynamic team;
  • You can work independently, set priorities and stay focused on objectives;
  • You are a real go getter with a positive attitude.
